Chatpate Chole

Ingredients:-

  • white channa (chick peas)-1/2 kg
  • cinnamon stick-2 inch
  • cloves-4
  • teabags-2
  • onions -2 finely chopped
  • garlic (crushed)-3 cloves
  • ginger -3 inch (crushed)
  • tomatoes -3 finely chopped
  • tamarind paste-2 tsp
  • turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  • cumin seeds-1 tsp
  • vegetable oil-4 tbsp
  • coriander leaves-1/2 cup
  • channa masala-5 tsp
  • red chili powder-2 tsp
  • salt to taste

Method:-

  1. Soak the chick peas overnight.
  2. Boil them in a pressure cooker with salt, cinnamon stick, clove and tea bags.
  3. In the meanwhile heat oil in the pan add cumin seeds,once the seeds splatter add onions and saute for few minutes then add tomatoes, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder and channa masala and keep stirring till the masala is fried properly.
  4. Now add the above mixture to the boiled chick peas.
  5. Add tamarind paste , mix well and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot with jeera rice,chapati,puri or paratha.
  8. This chole goes well with bhature.
