Masala Peanuts

About Masala Peanuts Recipe:

Masala Peanuts, also known as Moongphali Masala, are one of the easiest and most loved Indian snacks. These are raw peanuts coated with a spicy besan batter and deep-fried until crisp.

The coating is made using gram flour (besan), red chilli powder, and salt – giving them a crunchy exterior and flavorful taste.

This spicy masala peanuts version is homemade, healthier, and so much tastier than store-bought ones.

You’ll find them in almost every Indian household – especially during monsoon or winter evenings.

With a cup of tea or coffee, these besan coated peanuts make the perfect companion.

Serving Suggestion:

Masala Peanuts pair beautifully with:

A cup of hot tea or filter coffee

Alongside pakoras, samosas, or chaat

As a crunchy topping for salads or curd rice

During movie nights or family get-togethers

Storage Suggestion:

Once the masala peanuts cool completely, store them in an airtight jar.

Keep away from moisture for lasting crispiness.

Stays fresh for up to 10–12 days.

Avoid sealing when warm – that can make them soggy.

Pro Tips for Perfect Masala Peanuts:

The besan mixture should be thick enough to coat the peanuts well.

Always fry on medium heat for even crispiness.

For extra crispy masala peanuts, double-fry them after cooling slightly.

You can air-fry or bake them for a lighter version.

Sprinkle a little chaat masala after frying for added tang.

This masala peanuts recipe is:

Super easy and beginner-friendly

Frequently Asked Question About This Recipe:

Can I bake or air-fry these instead of deep frying?

Yes you can airfry.

Why are my masala peanuts soft after frying?

That happens if the batter is too thin or if the oil was too hot. Keep it thick and fry on medium flame.

Can I use rice flour with besan?

Yes. Mixing 1 tbsp rice flour with besan makes them even crispier.

How long do they stay fresh?

When stored properly in an airtight container, masala peanuts stay crispy for about 10–12 days.

Can I make this spicier?

Of course! Increase red chilli powder or add a pinch of black pepper or garam masala for extra heat.
