Do you all know that the old saying “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper”, stands true today as well?
Believe it or not, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating a nutritious breakfast sets the tone for the day and promotes weight maintenance and weight loss by maintaining blood glucose levels and your metabolism.
Skipping breakfast is a normal phenomenon I think with all of us. We think that if we skip breakfast we can save a lot of time to do our others chores. We just focus on lunch or the dinner.
But we are wrong because skipping breakfast is the biggest mistake we do.
Probably all of us do not know the meaning of breakfast. For those who do not know it I must tell you that the meaning of breakfast is “break the fast”.
After we sleep at night we don’t eat anything for long hours, so it is very important that you recharge yourself in the morning in order to keep going. Eating breakfast not only boosts your energy but also helps you stay fit mentally and physically. Proper breakfast increases your stamina and also helps you focus.
I know at times we don’t get time to make breakfast for ourselves or, sometimes even if we make, we don’t get time to eat that breakfast and we tend to skip. Honestly speaking there used to be a time when I also used to skip my breakfasts and the result was loss of energy, low stamina and of course weight gain.
Everything was okay for me but when I started gaining weight, I started becoming tensed and that led to further weight gain.
And that is when I decided to change my morning routine. The first thing that I did was to wake up early and do the work that interested me and that second was to stop skipping breakfast.
I started having breakfast within two hours of waking up. You must be wondering as to how I managed to do that. Right???
To avoid skipping breakfast, the first thing I did was to go back to ready-made breakfast.
No, ready-made does not mean unhealthy. I kept ready-made things which was very much healthy, which you will see in a few minutes when I talk about today’s recipe. Another thing that I did was to plan a day ahead for my breakfast.
So by now, you would have understood that today’s recipe is a part of my lifestyle changes. Let us get straight into today’s recipe.
Oats and Fruits Parfait Recipe
Oats and parfait recipe is an easy and healthy breakfast recipe. It is an overnight recipe that you can make the previous night. This was one of the healthy ready-made breakfast recipe that I was speaking about.
Oats and Fruits Parfait Recipe has all the goodness of Oats, Yoghurt and Pomegranate and is a very healthy breakfast. Since you wouldn’t have to worry about making a breakfast in the morning, you wouldn’t have to skip your breakfasts now.
To make Oats
- Instant Oats - 1 cup
- Milk - 1 cup
To make Parfait
- Plain Curd/Yogurt - 400 grams
- Jaggery - 1/2 cup
- Strawberries - 4 big diced
- Pomegranate Seeds - 1 big
- Shredded coconut or coconut flakes - 1/4 cup
- Chocolate Sauce - to garnish
- Make the oats: Heat a cup of milk in a pan.
- Add instant oats to it and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let it cool.
- In a bowl add curd and jaggery, blend it well.
- Now add the cooked oats in it and mix well until smooth.Set aside.
- Now keep the glasses ready and starts layering it.
- Fill a bowl or glass with ingredients in this order: Oats mixture, pomegranate, oats mixture, strawberry.
- Repeat the same order again until the glasses are full.
- Top it up with pomegranate, strawberry and coconut flakes.
- At last garnish with some chocolate sauce.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate overnight.It tastes really great.
