Rainy Days, Paper Boats, and Pakoras

For me, monsoon is not just about rain. It’s about memories…

When I was a child, we had a big aangan with a mitti ka floor. On one side, there was a long shed made of dried hay.

My father and uncle would sit there on a chowki, sipping chai and chatting, while rainwater flowed down and created a small stream-like channel in the corner.

That little rainwater stream became our playground.

We kids would fold paper boats and float them in the water. Sometimes, we placed tiny ants on them and imagined they were off on a long journey.

One time, a squirrel slipped into the water near the cow’s feeding spot and started struggling. I quickly ran and helped it out.

It was soaked and scared, but after a moment, it shook itself and ran off. We laughed with relief. It’s a memory I’ll never forget!

After marriage, I remember one beautiful moment standing on the terrace with Dilip and our daughter, enjoying the rain together.

But now, things have changed. We worry about wet clothes, thunderstorms, and damp floors. Still, one thing hasn’t changed is our love for these Indian pakora varieties for rainy season.

There’s truly nothing more comforting during monsoon than enjoying monsoon special pakora recipes served hot with a steaming cup of chai.

So if your heart says ‘chai time’ every time it rains, you’re going to love these best pakora recipes for monsoon, perfect for cozy evenings and even better with family around.

Keep tea boiling while frying pakoras—the aroma is heavenly.

For a healthier version, use an air fryer or bake them.

You can store chutneys in the fridge for 3–4 days.

Leftover pakoras can be reheated in an air fryer or oven. Avoid microwaving—they turn soggy.

My Recommended Product:

If you make pakoras often, having the right kadai really helps. I personally recommend the Borosil Stainless Steel Kadhai with Lid.

It’s induction-friendly, has a tri-ply bottom for even heating, and works great for deep-frying pakoras evenly without burning them.

I only recommend products I’ve personally used or truly believe in for home cooking.
