Stuffed Paneer Paratha Recipe is an Indian Bread recipe which is made by stuffing the dough with a crumbled Paneer mixture. This is a famous food in Delhi and surrounding cities.

It’s exam time here for the kids and most kids are busy preparing for their exams.

This is probably one of those times in the year when the kids are the most burdened. The pressure that the expectation of the parents have from them is tremendous and since, here in India, the most focus is always on academics, the pressure can be unbearable.

But why are kids under so much pressure?

I have seen some parents and even schools focusing so much on academics that they simply miss seeing the real talent in the kids. They often miss the real strengths in these kids which is not right.

Fortunately for us, we have seen a totally different approach from the school that my daughter studies in. And this week we were taken for  surprise at something that the kids and the school have together created.

We were handed over this storybook at one of the meetings in the school and we were told that it was written and illustrated by our daughter.

For a minute, we looked at each other as if asking “written and illustrated“. That’s too heavy a term to be used for a 2nd grader.

Though we knew our daughter’s liking to drawing and painting, “illustration” was a little too much for us to comprehend.

And when the teacher handed over the book to us, she looked at us and said, “Your daughter has done a terrific job. She is simply amazing. “Out of the world” is too little to explain her work”.

With pride, we opened the storybook and this is what we saw.. (These are the series of pages in the storybook)

When we finished reading it, we felt so proud of our little daughter.

Kids are very understanding. They understand us and everything going around them and the little expectation that they have from their parents is that they too understand them.

And often when this expectation of theirs is not met, the consequences are not good.

And one of the aspects where parents disastrously break this link between them and the kids is when we pressurize our kids to pursue a specific career that they aren’t inclined towards.

Wouldn’t it be so better that we let them choose what they want to be in life and just act as the guide and mentor to help them achieve that?

When our daughter said that she wanted to be an “Artist” when she grows up, we knew what our role in it would be.

Whatever is the choice that she makes, even if she changes her plans some time down the line, we are ready to play the role of the mentor for her and we wish all parents do the same.

There are hundreds of varieties of parathas and if you really want to enjoy the complete range (though I still doubt it is really the complete range), you need to visit the “Parathe waali Gali in Old Delhi”.

Today we will be making one of the many stuffed parathas. This time it will be Stuffed Paneer Paratha recipe. You can read our stuffed gobi paratha recipe here.

In this paratha we will be making the stuffing out of cottage cheese (Paneer) mixed with some basic ingredients like onion, garam masala etc. Kids love this paratha because of the inclusion of Paneer in it.

For Paneer Stuffing

  • 2 Cups Cottage Cheese crumbled
  • 1 No Onion (finely chopped)
  • 4 No Green Chillies finely chopped
  • 1 Sprig Coriander Leaves finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Dry Mango Powder optional
  • Salt to taste

For Paratha Dough

  • 1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Carrom Seeds (Ajwain)
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to knead dough

For Roasting Paratha:

  • Ghee/ Oil /Butter as required


  • In a medium bowl add wheat flour, ajwain, salt and vegetable oil. Give it a nice mix.
  • Now gradually add the water and knead it to make a smooth soft dough. Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.
  • In a bowl add paneer, onion, green chillies, coriander leaves, garam masala and salt to taste. Mix everything well and set aside.
  • Now to prepare the paratha divide the dough into equal portions and make small ball shaped dough.
  • Take one ball, using the palm and your fingers press and spread the dough into small round shaped puri.
  • Add a few tablespoon of paneer mixture in the centre and then close and seal it gently by pressing the edges togeather. (Ensure that not to overstuff the paratha and it doesn’t tear in between).
  • Now gently roll the stuffed parathas to a size of a chapati or roti. (take care that the filling does not ooze out or tears the dough)
  • Now heat tawa and roast the paneer paratha with oil ghee or butter until golden brown on both sides.
  • Serve paneer paratha hot along with curd, pickle or white butter.
