About Cajun Potato Recipe:
It was my birthday when we first visited the Barbeque Nation restaurant. I loved the place, especially their style of serving starters.
Right after I finished my welcome drink, they brought me some corn and the mouthwatering dish called Cajun Potatoes.
Just like love at first sight, it was love at first bite for me. 🙂
The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, loaded with delicious spices.
I liked them so much that I wanted to make them at home. But then I found out that the spiced sauce used in the original recipe was made with mayonnaise. So, I decided to recreate the recipe with a healthier twist by substituting the mayonnaise with hung curd.
Hung curd is a thick yogurt.
So, I mixed in some spices to make it taste just right.
And guess what?
After a few trials, I made the perfect batch of Cajun potatoes.
They were as delicious as the ones you get at the restaurant!
This recipe is really easy and fun to make. It’s the perfect dish when you want something delicious and quick to snack on.
So without waiting, let’s get started and Experience the flavors of Barbeque Nation at home with this Cajun Potato Barbeque Nation Style recipe – a tasty and creamy appetizer with just the right amount of spice, ideal for any gathering.

Serving Suggestion:
Serve these Cajun Potatoes hot, garnished with some chopped onions and fresh coriander leaves. For a complete meal, you can serve them with a light salad or some grilled paneer or veggies of your choice.
Storage Suggestion:
These cajun potatoes without mayonnaise are best enjoyed fresh. However, if you need to store them, keep the potatoes in the refrigerator without adding the sauce. Just before serving, reheat them in a pan to make them crispy, and then add the hung curd dip.
This way, you can retain the crispiness and freshness of the dish. Also, since the sauce is made with hung curd, make sure to keep it refrigerated; otherwise, it might become too sour. Right before serving, add some chopped onions and coriander to make it look and taste fresh.
Pro Tips for this Cajun Spiced Potatoes Recipe:
- Ensure the potatoes are only parboiled and not too soft, as they need to hold their shape when fried.
- For a healthier version, you can air-fry the coated potatoes instead of deep-frying.
- Adjust the spices in the Cajun sauce according to your preference. If you like it spicier, add more red chili flakes.

Basic Ingredients Used to Make this Recipe Cajun Potato Barbeque Nation Style:
Baby Potatoes: Baby potatoes are the star of this dish. Their small size makes them ideal for a snack or appetizer. In case baby potatoes are unavailable, you can use regular potatoes, although the taste might differ slightly.
Simply cut the potatoes into small chunks and adjust the cooking times accordingly.
Hung Curd: Hung curd provides a creamy texture to the sauce, making it a healthier option. It also helps in binding the spices well.
You can check out the recipe for hung curd here. In case hung curd is not available you can use Greek yogurt which is very much similar to hung curd.
Spices: I have used spices like Peri-peri seasoning, Pepper powder, Garlic powder, Black Salt, Oregano, Red Chili Flakes, and Kashmiri red chili powder.
These spices are a must for this recipe and make the potatoes taste just right, with a mix of spicy, tangy, and herby flavors that are very important for this recipe. If peri peri seasoning is not available you can substitute it with extra red chili flakes.
Maida (All-Purpose Flour) and Corn Flour: These two ingredients are used to make a slurry, important for the crispy outer coating of the potatoes.
Others: Milk to adjust the consistency of sauce and water to make a slurry.
