Aata Jaggery Cake

About Eggless Aata Jaggery Cake:

The eggless aata jaggery cake is a special kind of cake made with whole wheat flour which we call ‘aata’ in Hindi. It uses jaggery instead of white sugar, which is a natural sweetener made from sugarcane juice.

The addition of jaggery gives it a deep, earthy sweet taste with a lovely warm brown color.

To begin with, we first mix the wet ingredients – oil, curd (yogurt), milk, and jaggery powder. And then we add the dry ingredients like aata, baking soda, and baking powder. And then mix everything. And yes, we should not overmix after adding these dry ingredients.

The curd in the batter makes the cake very soft and moist inside when baked. The baking soda and powder make it rise and become light and fluffy.

Finally, top it up with some chopped almonds before baking. This gives a nice crunch and flavor on top.

The best thing I like about this whole wheat jaggery cake is that it tastes so delicious but also has healthy whole wheat flour and no refined sugar. Jaggery has some nutrients like minerals too.

So what are you waiting for?

Make this delicious whole wheat cake at home and enjoy something sweet without using too much extra sugar or unhealthy ingredients.

Storage Suggestion:

If there is any leftover of this whole wheat cake, you can store it in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. And you can slightly warm up the cake before serving if you want.

Pro Tips for Whole Wheat Jaggery Cake:

  1. Make sure not to overmix the batter once you add the dry ingredients. If you mix too much, the batter will become thick and dense and the cake will have a chewy and heavy texture instead of being soft.
  2. Ensure to use good quality jaggery powder for the best flavor and sweetness.
  3. Let the cake cool completely before slicing it.

Why You Should Make This Whole Wheat Cake:

This Homemade Aata cake with Jaggery is,

Healthier than regular butter cakes since it uses whole wheat flour and unrefined jaggery instead of white sugar.

Instead of butter, this recipe uses oil which makes the cake a bit lighter.
