Aval Nanachathu or Aval Sharkara is a traditional South Indian snack or breakfast recipe that has been cherished for generations. Originating from Kerala, this dish is often made during festivals and special occasions.
Combining poha, coconut, and jaggery brings a sweet and flavorful treat everyone loves.
I love the simplicity of this recipe. Since I am from Bihar and being a Bihari, we use poha in many different ways, but this new way of making poha, is something I had for the first time when I got married in South India. Yep, that’s a long story—maybe I will explain that sometime later.
For now, I love making Sweet Aval with Jaggery for my own family, and my daughter enjoys it just as much as I do.
