The Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Bread is a tasty fusion snack that combines creamy paneer and garlic butter in a fluffy bun. This Korean Garlic Bread recipe is good for big holiday parties like Birthday Parties, Thanksgiving, or Christmas.
About Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Bread:
This Korean savory soft bread is trending at the moment and I am so excited to make them with a little twist.
The classic Korean street food snack of Korean cream cheese garlic bread gets a tasty Indian twist in this recipe by adding paneer and Schezwan Chutney.
This fusion recipe of Korean garlic bread with Indian paneer and Schezwan chutney creates a mouthwatering flavor and texture combo you’ll love.
The filling is a combination of cream cheese, paneer, Schezwan chutney, and fresh cream.
And the star of the show here is, of course, the liquid butter, fresh cream, oregano, chili flakes, garlic cloves, and coriander leaves, which is poured on top of the filled bun and baked again for a few minutes in the oven.
The result is a slightly crispy garlicky flavor bun on the outside and super melty and gooey cream cheese filling on the inside, they are irresistible!
Traditional Korean cream cheese garlic bun features a sweet dough stuffed with rich garlic butter cream cheese filling.
My recipe adds a twist by including Indian paneer to make it even more mouth-watering and flavorful. The mild sweet paneer balances against the savory garlic butter for the ultimate snack. The garlic butter sauce is so tasty, it would be delicious on anything!
I chose to leave out the sugar that’s usually added to the cream cheese filling. But you can add sugar if you want a sweeter flavor.
Moreover, I would suggest making this Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Bun recipe with a store-bought bun that’s not too heavy. Make sure you can cut it open and fill it with the cream cheese. Also, be sure to choose a good quality salted butter. This is important for the flavor.

How to Make Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Bun
Making this snack at home is easy. Simply prepare the paneer garlic butter filling and stuff it into store-bought buns of your choice. Or make the dough from scratch for homemade buns. The filling can also be used in wraps or sandwiches.
Adjust the garlic and spice levels to taste. Serve the bun warm so the cheese filling gets all melty and ooey-gooey.
How is Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Bread different than regular Garlic Bread?
- Garlic Bread is made using baguette bread whereas this Korean Garlic Bread is made using a brioche dough bun.
- Korean Bread is filled with sweetened cream cheese, giving it a cheesy and moist texture that you won’t find in the regular version.
- The Garlic Butter Sauce in the Korean version is richer and more custard-like, with added milk, eggs, and other enrichments, while regular garlic bread uses melted butter, a bit of salt, garlic, and optional herbs.
Serving Suggestions:
- The Korean garlic bread should be served warm so the cheese filling is nice and melty.
- Pair the rich, savory buns with something acidic or fresh like a side salad or fresh fruit to balance the flavors.
- Icy cold milk would complement the warmth of the buns nicely. Cold brew coffee or tea would also be refreshing.
- The buns have a lot of cheese and butter. Two or three slices are enough at once. They are good for serving with friends or a party because the richness makes them filling.
Storage:
Leftover buns can be refrigerated for 2-3 days and reheated before serving. The paneer garlic filling also keeps well for 3-4 days if refrigerated.
Pro Tips for Korean Garlic Bread:
- Allow all ingredients like cream cheese and paneer to come to room temperature before blending the filling. This creates a smooth and easy-to-pipe consistency.
- Use very soft burger buns or milk bread for the base. This lighter bread absorbs the flavors well and provides the perfect fluffy texture.
- Use lots of fresh chopped garlic in the butter topping. This gives the most garlic flavor and aroma that makes the buns special. Don’t use garlic powder or very little garlic. More is better!
- Add lots of the creamy paneer filling inside the buns so each bite has a nice amount. This gives the perfect combo of bread, garlic butter, and filling in each tasty mouthful.
- First, pour the garlic butter on top of the buns before adding it to the slit sides. Letting it soak into the top first helps the garlic flavor get deep into the bread for the best taste.
- Allow baked bread to cool just 5 minutes before serving when the cheese filling is warm, gooey perfection.
Why you Should Make this Recipe:
- You’ll love the creativity of this Korean-Indian fusion snack
- It’s a great way to enjoy paneer if you like Indian flavors
- The combination of flavors and textures is just amazing
- If using a store-bought bread, the recipe gets done in 10-15 mins.
- The best recipe for your Kids and parties

Basic Ingredients Used to Make this Recipe:
Burger Buns: Burger Bun is the key ingredient in this recipe. The bun or bread should be soft and airy to absorb flavors. Dense bread won’t work as well. Substitute with any mild-flavored soft dinner rolls or buns. Brioche or challah bread also works.
Paneer: Indian cottage cheese is creamy and moist, with a mild flavor that blends nicely with spices and garlic; you can use extra firm tofu or ricotta cheese as a substitute for a similar texture.
Cream Cheese: Adds a rich and creamy cheesy flavor. Its smooth, thick texture creates cohesiveness in the fillings. Binds together the paneer, chutney, and other ingredients allowing them to be piped and hold shape.
The high-fat content provides a pleasant mouth-coating richness that balances the spices.
Schezwan Chutney: Important for a flavorful, spicy, and tangy punch. Although you can swap it with any green chutney, Schezwan provides a distinct and unique flavor.
Fresh Cream: The fresh cream adds important moisture, fat, and richness that allows the flavorful paneer filling to blend smoothly into a luscious, scoopable consistency for easy piping and spreading.
If fresh cream is not available, substitutes like sour cream, heavy or whipping cream, or Greek yogurt supply the right texture without diluting flavors.
Melted Butter: Butter provides fatty richness and perfectly browns and crisps the tops.
Oregano: The earthy, herbal flavor of oregano nicely complements the spices and garlic. It provides a robust depth that boosts overall flavor without overpowering it.
Chilli Flakes: These infuse a moderate heat and crimson color. The spiciness balances the rich dairy elements. Add more or less to preference.
Garlic cloves: A generous amount of garlic is essential for a strong aroma and sharp flavor. Powdered or minced garlic won’t deliver the same potent taste—opt for fresh garlic! Avoid skipping it unless you prefer a very subtle garlic profile.
Coriander Leaves: Fresh coriander contributes bright, citrusy notes. The pleasant herbal quality contrasts nicely with the creaminess. Its fresh taste also cuts through buttery richness.

Frequently Asked Questions About this Recipe:
What type of bun works best?
Soft burger buns or milk bread provide the right fluffiness to absorb all the delicious flavors. Stay away from denser or whole-grain options.
Can I use regular butter instead of garlic butter on top?
You can, but the punch of garlic is a signature of this recipe. For best results, make the garlic-herb butter.
How long does the bread stay fresh?
Consume immediately whenever possible! The refrigerated bread is still tasty for 1-2 days but loses its fluffy texture.
Can I bake these buns in advance?
You can bake them 1-2 hours before serving. Reheat briefly before serving to restore crispiness. The cheese may harden when cold.
